Also, this can come from settlement organizations.These organizations provide pre-arrival services or settlement services for new immigrant. In this article, you will learn about the settlement organizations in the Atlantic Region. In Atlantic Region, they operate under the body called “ARAISA“.

ARAISA is an umbrella group for organizations providing immigrant settlement services  in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. They are located across Atlantic Canada’s four provinces. They have numerous programs and services which include

  • such as language training,
  • employment support and
  • community connections,

These are essential to new immigrants’ successful settlement and integration in the region.

New Brunswick

Ignite Fredericton

Ignite Fredericton attracts, retains, and supports entrepreneurs, business, and economic builders in Greater Fredericton, New Brunswick. As a new immigrant, you can register for one of free “Discover Greater Fredericton Region: Information / Orientation Sessions” to learn about Fredericton. In addition, you will learn about resources available to newcomers and immigrants. Pre-registration is required because space is limited.

Multicultural Association of Charlotte County

This organization provides a range of settlement services and language instruction to help you get settled in Canada. Their offices are located in St.George and St.Stephen, New Brunswick, and provide services across Charlotte County.

Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc.

They offer different services which include pre-arrival, settlement and resettlement services for new arrivals to Fredericton.

Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area

MAGMA welcomes and helps people from around the world feel at home in the Greater Moncton Area. In addition, they offer several services and programs designed to enrich the landscape of an increasingly cosmopolitan city. While the service is free, need to make an appointment with one of the intake counselors.

New Brunswick Multicultural Council (NBMC)

The NBMC is a bilingual, not-for-profit, umbrella, organization committed to supporting immigrant-serving agencies, and multicultural and ethno-cultural associations in the province.

If you are moving to Saint John, this  is the go-to place for you. They will help you to settle down and integrate into the local community.

YMCA of Greater Saint John Newcomer Connections

The Y Newcomer Connections offers a diverse range of programs and services to newly arrived immigrants. These include English language classes, employment readiness programs, Canadian cultural orientation, immigrant settlement assistance, and school readiness programs.

The Association for New Canadians (ANC) is a non-profit, community-based organization which delivers settlement and integration services to immigrants in Newfoundland and Labrador. ANC delivers programs and services that support all aspects of immigrant integration. This ranges from settlement information and orientation to language learning, skills development and employment.

YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth Centre for Immigrant Programs

YMCA provides newcomer children, youth, and their families with a variety of programs and outreach services. In addition, they provide services for students at several partner schools. The YMCA Centre for Immigrant Programs helps newcomers to Canada settle into their new communities. Also, they support the community in understanding the issues and barriers they face.
