Over the last few months, Netflix has gradually added some Nollywood movies (or Nigerian movies as some will call it) to their platform. The list is growing each day. So, we have decided to highlight some of our favorite Nollywood movies currently available on Netflix. Light in the Dark
The Nollywood movie is a Romance thriller which stars Rita Dominic, Joke Silva, Kalu Ikeagwu, Saidi Balogun. A terrifying home invasion shatters a couple’s happy family life and brings their marriage to the brink. This thriller, “” tells the story of how far two people are willing to go to keep their marriage together. It also touches slightly on inter-tribal marriages and the betrayal of friendship.

King of Boys is the story of Alhaja Eniola Salami. She is a businesswoman and philanthropist with a checkered past and a promising political future. Her political ambitions see her outgrowing the underworld connections responsible for her considerable wealth. She’s then drawn into a power struggle that threatens everything she holds dear. To come out of this on top, she will need every ounce of the cunning, ruthlessness, and strategy that took her to the top. She also requires the loyalty of those closest to her. Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons
Steve Gukas‘sis a blockbuster Nollywood movie that portrays the Nigeria’s excellence. This Nigerian movie looks back at with pride at how Nigeria prevented the outbreak of the Ebola disease. The film documents the triumph against Ebola and salutes the heroes of that battle. The movie is not great because of what it stands for, but how well it told that story. It was beautifully shot and well-acted with lead Bimbo Akintola delivering an excellent performance.
Moms At War
“Moms at War”, directed by Omoni Oboli, is athat is about two mothers who live in the same neighborhood, but hate each other. One felt that the other was a village girl who just got into money and is not fit to live in the same neighborhood with them. But both their kids coincidentally attend the same school. There was a competition that was done for the kids, and both were the top of their class. It comes down to one of them winning the competition and the mothers just go crazy, doing all sort of antics. This is a story of friendship, sisterhood, and bonding in spite of everything.
This is a Nollywood Movie thriller Kunle Afolayan.is one of his best Nigerian movies and one of the best from the last decade. October 1 is mainly about solving a series of gruesome murders that’s been happening in Akote, a remote town in Western Nigeria. The film continually poses questions about colonialism and its long term effects on the fragile democracy of young Nigeria. Working with trusted collaborators, Afolayan creates a gorgeous picture reminiscent of ’60’s Nigeria.
This is an old Nollywood Movie by Kunle Afolayan but I can’t keep watching it. Mary, a fashion designer, and Akin, an arrogant businessman, swap their phones by accident in a busy airport. This is a story of how the fashion designer and the arrogant businessman reluctantly try to help each other after accidentally swapping phones in the airport.
Love Is War
This is another Nollywood Movie directed by Omoni Obodi.is a movie about a husband and wife who both win the nominations of the two major parties in an upcoming gubernatorial election. The adoring couple elects to test the strength of their marriage when they run against each other for the office of state governor.
Five top level staff of a company are selected for a retreat where the new CEO of a global company will be chosen. What starts off as cordial soon goes sour as they attempt to outdo one another to be named The CEO. In ““, a group of executives heads to a retreat to pick the firm’s new CEO until they find themselves in a contest to stay alive.
This is a story of a young graduate who battles everything on his journey to self discovery and actualization.is characterized by actions and reactions that defines the everyday Nigerian society, with its ups and downs. The Nollywood movie focuses on the life of a job hunting graduate “Akande” who found himself in totality while searching for a job, and a better life. It highlights the merits of steadfastness, humility and self-denial and also espouses the gains of harnessing opportunities.
is a Nollywood movie about an illegal immigrant couple from Nigeria on a quest to create a better life for their unborn child. Their dream is to have their baby in the United States in order for the baby to become a US citizen. A Nigerian couple living in the U.S. face agonizing fallout when they defy deportation orders with the hopes of giving their unborn child citizenship.
The Delivery Boy
Written and directed by ace cinematographer, Adekunle Nodash Adejuyigbe, thetells the profound story of an orphaned boy who runs into a young prostitute on a fated night. The pair contend with their pasts before the night ends. It stars Jammal Ibrahim and Jemima Osunde. A teen criminal and a young sex worker forge an unlikely alliance during a night that forces them to confront painful pasts and crises of conscience.
