Top Family Movies To Watch on Netflix This Weekend

Feel the Beat Movie

The weekend is here already. For most people, weekend is a time to relax with your family. Movies are a great way to pass the time and relax with your family right now, especially warmhearted family movies that everyone in your home can enjoy. If you have a Netflix subscription, we have your back. As you probably know, there is nothing quite like family movie night, and streaming has made it easier than ever to plan one. Whether you want to sit down with your children or spend the evening laughing, we have something for everyone. This article will show top family movies to watch on Netflix this weekend.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind” is a movie about a 13-year-old boy who is thrown out of the school he loves when his family can no longer afford the fees. He sneaks into the library and learns how to build a windmill to save his village from a famine.

This inspiring film — set in a small farming village in Malawi — will pull audiences in with the presence of lead actor (and director) Chiwetel Ejiofor. The lead actor is Maxwell Simba, who plays a 13-year-old boy named William. While William’s story may read like a middle-school assignment, his education is taken away before he conceives a windmill-power generator to solve his town’s problems. This is the kind of motivational story that science-obsessed children might love. See the trailer below and decide if it is worth your time.

Mary Poppins Returns

This is a movie about how Michael Banks and his three children get some help turning their topsy-turvy world around when his magical childhood nanny reappears. Mary Poppins Returns looks to improve on the original by offering an actual villain and some tumult, but it’s still for the younger set, with plenty of positivity, as well as catchy songs. This sequel departs from the original by adding a clear villain and a few scenes of peril / suspense, though nothing ever gets too scary. But it follows in the original’s footsteps with its catchy songs and strong messages about imagination, gratitude, empathy, kindness, looking past the surface, and of course being close to your family and believing in yourself. You can watch the trailer below.

The Main Event

This is one of my top family movies to watch on Netflix. Using special powers from a magical mask, a young WWE fan causes chaos when he enters a wrestling competition and fights an intimidating rival. In The Main Event, Seth Carr stars as Leo — an 11-year-old WWE fanatic being raised by his father and grandmother. Bullied both in school and after school, Leo discovers a dingy old luchador mask that grants him superhuman powers. Not just the type that allow him to compete in a wrestling ring, but to do crazy strong things like swat down giant trees. Leo, now with a new streak of confidence, and a secret identity, can do things that the most powerful humans in the world can’t do. What are you waiting for? See the trailer below.

Feel the Beat

After blowing a Broadway audition, a self-centered dancer, April, reluctantly returns home and agrees to coach a squad of young misfits for a big competition. In the film’s opening moments, April botches a Broadway audition by way of an embarrassing public mishap. Her cap brim pulled down in shame. She grudgingly decamps to her Wisconsin hometown where she accepts a job teaching at her old ballet studio. She hopes that an upcoming youth dance competition will resuscitate her career, but her prickly tough love approach leaves the pig-tailed girls petrified. The trailer below will convince you.

Holy Expectations

In Holy Expectations, a young girl, with a short life expectancy, uses faith and her vivid imagination to navigate adversity and create a story that impacts all around her.
